Township ordinance on snow removal
After a snowfall, we need to keep our sidewalks clear. According to Franconia Township code 137-21,
"It shall be the duty of all owners, tenants or occupants of occupied properties, and the owners or agents in charge of unoccupied properties, abutting on public streets in Franconia Township, not later than 30 hours after snow or sleet has ceased to fall, to clear or cause to be cleared a pathway in the sidewalk in front of their respective properties in the event of snow and to cover the sidewalk with cinders, sawdust or similar snow and ice control materials in the event of ice and sleet. Such pathway shall not be less than 30 inches in width and shall be thoroughly cleared of snow and ice or covered in cinders, sawdust or similar snow and ice control materials. Where snow and ice are removed from the pathway, it may be placed or piled on the curb side of the sidewalk, but it shall not be piled or placed in the gutter or the cartway.

Skateboards
We are starting to see a rise in skateboarding in our community. For those of you who remember and for our new residents, the following was taken from a newsletter which was distributed to our residents after our 2002 annual association meeting:
"The topic of most discussion is skateboarding in our community. Unfortunately, we have to report that the sport of skateboarding will no longer be permitted on any of the property within Indian Valley Meadows. The decision was made after much discussion by all concerned, including skateboarders who took the time to come to a board meeting to present their views, parents of skateboarders, legal counsel, management advice, and last but by no means least, communication from our insurance company. It seems if we do continue to allow skateboarding within the community, our insurance company will cancel our policy immediately. This is our insurance coverage for among other things, operation of the pool. Needless to say, we cannot risk losing this coverage. That being said, please make a point to let any residents that you know who skateboard, it will no longer be permitted in our community."
Reiterating our community's policy, "There is no skateboarding allowed within the Indian Valley Meadows." Parents, please help our community stay safe.

Dumpster area guidelines
Cardboard Dumpster. Please cut and flatten your cardboard before placing inside the dumpster---do not place cardboard on top of the lids or on the ground. The trash hauler will not empty the cardboard dumpster if those conditions occur. If the dumpster is full, please place your cardboard in the trash dumpsters.
Newspaper Dumpster. This dumpster is for newspapers and magazines only---bundle, tie or bag your papers before placing inside. Do not place papers on top of the lids or on the ground.
Recyclable Dumpster. Please place your rinsed aluminum cans, tin cans, glass (green, brown and clear only), and plastics (#1 & #2 only) into this dumpster(nothing else should go in there). These items should not be bagged but thrown in loosely. The trash hauler charges us a $300 commingling fee each and every month on top of the regular fee for the contamination. This fee could be eliminated with everyone's cooperation.
Yard Waste Pile. Please place your yard waste in the pile to the left of the dumpsters, keeping it stacked neatly and in one pile. It periodically gets removed or chipped. Do not place trash or bulk in this pile.
Trash Dumpsters. Place your trash into these dumpsters; not on the lids and not on the ground. We pay someone each week to clean up this area because some of us for some reason do not always get our trash into the dumpsters. Please pitch in and help; if you see trash on the ground, pick it up! This is your community, so let's try to keep it clean. Also, we all need to get our IVMC identification stickers on our vehicles so we can easily spot illegal dumpers. These dumpers are costing you money, and it occurs on a daily basis.
Monthly Bulk Dumpster. This extra service is provided up to one week per month. It is very costly. Please hold onto your bulk items until the dumpster arrives each month. Bulk should go intothe dumpster, not on the ground. If your bulk items will fit into the regular trash dumpsters, put it in there first. We only have one or two volunteers who help load that dumpster, and we could use more help. Contact the Board President if you could lend a hand when the dumpster arrives each month.
